My walk with God has been one exciting wild ride! Saved by Jesus Christ when I was 22, I’ve never looked back. Our family’s latest adventure brought us to Mukilteo, Washington, from Shoreview, Minnesota. I had a full time job as an IT manager and was also pastoring a church in Shoreview when God said my time in both places was coming to a close. He began to orchestrate events so we would be freed-up to make the jump to the next new adventure. God guided us each step of the way: first to northwest Washington, then to Mukilteo, then to our neighborhood, and finally to our church and various community organizations where we plugged-in for 4 years. In October, 2012, God spoke to us to get ready for something new. He was birthing Jericho Bridge Church. We launched on September 15, 2013, and immediately got woven into the fabric of Mukilteo. I’m excited to be part of a community that has so much spirit, and I hope my life reflects Jesus Christ to those around me. I am married to the best wife in the world, and we have 3 great kids.
My favorite verses:
• Matt 25:21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”
• Matt 28:20b “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
• Micah 6:8 “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

At Jericho Bridge Church, we understand the times. In increasing intensity, churches are irrelevant and Christians are invisible. The traditions of "doing church" hold no value to those struggling with the cares of the world. God Himself is distant at best, non-existent at worst. And by association, Christians are out-of-touch with the pulse of the community. So, the prevailing thought is to "keep those church people at arms-length, and let us get on with our lives."
JBC gets it. How can one possibly understand the passions, the loves, the loneliness, the needs, of the community if he or she hides inside the church building hoping a visitor walks in? That's not how relationships are built; that's not how trust is earned. Jericho Bridge does not "do church"; we ARE the Church. Just as Jesus Christ walked among the people, was moved by their calls for help, and met those needs through practical and spiritual means, our purpose - why we exist - is to help bridge the gaps in people's lives.
We connect. We build bridges.
We foster and develop relationships between people and Jesus, between people in the church and those not in a church, between generations, between communities, and even between churches. Our passion is to come alongside people in our community, and serve with them in their passions. Only through the building of relationship bridges will we in the church be able to show Christ's love for all.
So. Watch for us! We are out and about in the community... tending the gardens, working the trails, cleaning up the beaches, setting the orchestra chairs and risers in place, serving at the foodbank, and... just helping.
Jericho was the first city on the other side of the Jordan that the Israelites came to. It represents God’s promises. From the mountain on the other side, the Lord showed Moses the whole land of Canaan, and told him that was the Israelites’ inheritance. And God showed His faithfulness and His strength by going before Joshua and the Israelites, delivering Jericho to them by destroying the walls of the city with mere marching and a loud shout. With Jericho in our name, we are to always remember and proclaim God’s promises, and that it is He who delivers on those promises in His timing.
Isaiah 55:10-13 10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. 12 You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. 13 Instead of the thorn bush will grow the pine tree, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord's renown, for an everlasting sign, which will not be destroyed.
We are to always remember God’s love for all people.
The word Bridge is significant because JBC is to be a bridge, helping people cross divides they cannot span. A bridge between people and God, by pointing them to Jesus Christ; a bridge between Christians and the lost, by extending the same grace and love Jesus gives us; a bridge between the church and the community, by serving and caring about the things that are important to them; a bridge between churches, by recognizing that appreciating each other for the heart we all have for our community.
Matthew 5:16 “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
We are to always remember that the way we show God’s love for others is through relationship.
And, Church, to acknowledge and proclaim that we were bought for a price, that Jesus Christ is the head of The Church, and that we are His bride.
Colossians 1:16-18 16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
We are to always remember that Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, and we are His body (eyes, ears, feet, hands).
Our Purpose: To serve God, the Church, and our Mukilteo community by working-out the Call on our lives to bridge gaps: between people and Jesus Christ, between churches, between generations, between communities.
We will do this by:
- reading, meditating on, and applying the Bible, which is the inerrant and infallible Word of God
- worshipping God through song, prayer, and practical means
- providing opportunities for the Church to develop its talents and gifts
- reaching out through service to the community with our talents and finances
- emphasizing authentic and loving relationships within the Church and with those around us
authentic community honesty
servanthood encouragement
accountability prayer/intercession
discipleship/mentoring training
nurturing/growth fellowship
interdependence
We in Jericho Bridge recognize that we all have sinned and therefore fall short of God's requirement of holiness (Rom 3:23). FORTUNATELY, in His mercy and undeserved love, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to fill that gap and be our substitute, so we can have a relationship with Him. We know that all we have to do is accept Jesus' free gift, and this is not for any reward of anything we do, but solely because of His love for us.
We, therefore, humbly remain honest, authentic, and accepting of each other, remembering that we were given HUGE grace and mercy. We serve, encourage, pray for, train, and nurture each other and everyone in our community, as we walk-out the path God has laid before us. This has been and always will be an exciting and wild ride, and we hope you will join us on it!

The mission of TrueBridge is “Building Healthy and Effective Churches to the Glory of God.” TrueBridge seeks to get things done through the strong relational connections that exist within the family of churches. TrueBridge churches share a common vision of relating foundationally and practically to New Testament truth. Don, Jim McCracken (founder of TrueBridge), and Rich Kao, Senior Pastor of Five Stones Church (www.fivestoneschurch.org) in Vancouver, BC, all served together in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, at City Hill Church.
